Scoutbook is the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) free official tool for advancement record-keeping and reporting. Scoutbook is designed to help Scouts, parents, and registered leaders track and report advancement and activity records. It can even help units identify who has expired or expiring Youth Protection Training, plan events, and send messages to their members. Scoutbook even offers a calendar feature so leaders and parents can see upcoming events at a glance. As an added benefit, Scoutbook’s record-keeping features allow leaders and parents to monitor a Scout’s progress, in the event their handbook is misplaced or damaged.
To create an adult account, you will log in using your username and password from My.Scouting.org (that’s the BSA online training site). Parents use their Adult account to control who can access their Scout’s account. A Unit’s Administrator controls which Adult accounts are connected to their unit. To create a Scout account, parents must invite their child to join; this can be done by going to the Scout’s profile and scroll to the very bottom of the page. Select “INVITE” (Scouts must have their own email address to join). Enter the email address. Scoutbook will then send a password to the Scout at his/her email. Log in with that email and password and you’re set. Any email sent to a youth through Scoutbook is automatically copied to a parent’s email. Leaders CANNOT enter a Scout’s email address or create a profile for Scouts; only parents can set those up.
